Nemaslug x 2 - 12 week course

Combat slugs effectively with Nemaslug, a natural nematode pest control - environmentally friendly and safe for children, pets and wildlife. Start your control regime early and you will be able to target the young slugs growing under the ground feeding on humus.

A pack of Nemaslug 40 sq.m will be dispatched at 6 weekly intervals. Please choose a delivery date for your first pack at the top of the screen, the rest of your order will be sent out at 6 week intervals, this ensures your nematodes are fresh and can be used within the use-by date. You can change the delivery weeks of any of your packs to account for holidays etc. simply include a comment with your order. If you need to change a pack's delivery date after ordering please give us at least a weeks notice, you can do this by telephone or email. You will receive two packs in total giving 12 weeks protection. If treating under cover, you may wish to use Nemaslug all year round.

Each pack contains a single application of nematodes to cover 40 sq.m. For best results apply every 6 weeks from early March to late October.

Orders will usually be posted on Thursday to arrive in the Friday/Saturday post. Orders may need to be ordered and dispatched earlier around public and bank holidays or during postal strikes - a notice will be posted on the front page should this be the case. You can choose a delayed delivery by selecting from the delivery options at the top of the page.

Nematodes have a life of approximately 4 weeks from dispatch.
We ship directly to you from the manufacturer to ensure you get the longest possible use by date.
You should store your nematodes in the fridge and use the whole packet in one go.
The use by date is printed on the packet.

• Nemaslug controls all common species of small to medium sized slugs (up to 8cm - 2.5-3 inches). Start your control regime early and you will be able to target the young slugs growing under the ground feeding on humus.
• Nemaslug uses the nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita, which was discovered by scientists at the government research institute at Bristol, England.
• One application of Nemaslug provides 300,000 nematodes for every square metre of soil, giving at least six weeks control of slugs. This is generally enough time for seedlings and bedding plants to get well established.
• Nemaslug is easy to apply and does not leave any unsightly residues.
• The majority of the slugs will die underground, so don't expect to see dead slugs lying around.
• Apply Nemaslug to moist soil. The soil temperature should be 5 degrees C (40 degrees F) or over (this is also when plants start to grow). Nematodes are capable of surviving the odd frost; so don't worry if the temperature falls after you have applied Nemaslug. Metaldehyde based slug pellets are reported not to be effective below 7 degrees C.
• Potatoes are susceptible to slug attack later in the season than most other plants. So you can delay applying Nemaslug till 6-7 weeks before harvest, when the tubers are most likely to be eaten by slugs.
• Unlike some controls, Nemaslug continues to work well during wet weather - exactly when you need protection against slugs!
• Nemaslug might affect water snails. To avoid harming them keep the treatment 15 cm (6") away from ponds.
• If you have a heavy clay area, ensure you apply Nemaslug to well worked soil. Nemaslug is less effective on cloggy clay soil, which has not been worked and/or has become waterlogged.
